El Brindis

For the first time, the FITT offers the possibility to take part in a la; in a learning process about the basic tools of a scenic creation.The scenic creator from Tarragona, Judith Pujol, will lead the course during ten days.

The Catalan word “brindar” means to offer something to someone and/or to drink in honor of someone or something. To share the local drink to make a toast is an action that I have observed for a long time now. I imagine a lab from the action of making a toast with wine and cava, like we’ve done for centuries in Tarragona. We will travel to the multiple possibilities that outflow from this action -appreciation, evocation, desire, nostalgia, tribute, augury, celebration-.

I propose a meeting, a creative exchange space, based on this collective gesture, to get close to the contemporary scenic exploration and creation. There will be two days of exploration in which two specialists will join us: an oenologist and a specialist in the classical world and (the) banquets. We will also visit a cellar to observe the harvesting process and the first steps of extraction.

On the 31st of August, we will offer something to those who would like to join us. We will open the lab to share some material, some recent and premature artistic findings, to make a toast -we shall see why, for who or how-, with the spectators of the FITT Festival.
