Trans (més enllà)
Didier Ruiz / La compagnie des hommes
On stage we descover Neus Asencio, Clara Palau, Daniel Ranieri, Raúl Roca and Ian de la Rosa. Their names are their actual names, but not the ones they were given when they were born. They have all changed genders. This is the main contribution of this piece: to interrogate us, more incisively than ever, about what being a man or a woman is, about what this means, bodily and psychologically.
The five actors appear on stage, they form a semicircle, surrounded by a cyclorama, as if it was a chrysalis. The light is white, sweet, beautiful. We discover that the word ‘trans’ has not a precise meaning. Each of them tell their stories. Each story crosses another testimony. It is the moment for revelation, transformation, public space. Everything goes on without naming the scenes, with a perfect fluency. We often find it hard to think that she or he haven’t been born in the body that we see, to a point that we believe as obvious that this is their own wrapping.

Criticism
Where is normality? Where is monstrosity? Is it in difference or in tolerance? Testimonies from seven actors are the uncomfortable and personal answer to these questions, and they show how fight after fight it is no longer clear whether what matters is destiny, the body fulfilled, or the path to one's own happiness. It is the first step, says Ruiz, to change "an intolerant society that no longer talks about love". Go further.
